Unfortunately the M3 sprint was not awarded the British Triathlon of the Tear award, with the victory going to Deva Divas Ladies Triathlon, Congratulations to them. However, everyone knows the real mission of the night for Kathy was to get a photograph with the Brownlees – Mission Accomplished

Triathlon Scotland Awards

Event of the year – Winners

For the 2nd year running the M3 Open Water Sprint Triathlon has won the Event of the year, an outstanding achievement for all involved in the race committee, all volunteers, supporters and racers.

This is what triathlon Scotland had to say

We are lucky to have so many beautiful venues in Scotland that lend themselves to brilliant events, and the venue of the Monikie sprint is no different.  A beautiful park setting, participants are piped to the water for the beach start.  A great set of volunteers who always have a smile on their face, there are always plenty spectators present to help encourage everyone taking part.  Race organisers have built up a great rapport with park staff and although new to the calendar in 2015, such was the success of the event they won a bid for the Scottish Sprint Championship this year.  Not resting on their laurels our winners actively developed their event by improving the transition area and introducing live commentary.  Great communication with a clear race briefing and a prompt prize giving at the end, who can forget the food provided to participants and volunteers at the end! A reputation for being a friendly club they certainly host an event to uphold the claim.”

Also for the 2nd year running, we have been awarded the Scottish Sprint Championships for this years M3 triathlon. A further acknowledgement of the overall quality of the triathlon. This years race will be organised by Mark Hopkins, who is already well under way with planning!

Finally on the awards list, M3 came top in the Legends ranking of the ‘Small’ clubs, meaning we are the best small triathlon club in Scotland.

Phew.

Good work everyone, it’s been a fantastic year, let’s hope for more of the same in 2017!
