Early Summer Season Roundup

A roundup on an early Summer season’s racing…

Lochore Triathlon

A popular local triathlon – there was a strong showing from M3, with podiums with Michelle taking 3rd female overall, and age category podiums for David, Miriam, and Barbara. Thanks to M3’s photographer Jamie Robinson for capturing some superb action shots on the day!

While a huge load of M3ers were racing at Lochore, Kevin and Phil were racing at IM 70.3 Staffordshire. Tremendous effort guys!

Marc Smith is somewhat of a veteran at this whole Celtman extreme triathlon thing (for those not familiar, it’s a long distance extreme triathlon, with a rather cold swim, a 202km bike, and a marathon that takes in 2 munros). Sadly this year the weather wasn’t playing ball, and although Marc got to the Mountain with about half an hour to spare, the weather closed in and Mountain Rescue advised the organisers to close the mountain section early. Tremendous effort from everyone in super tough conditions, well done

2018 Scottish National Youth Triathlon Championships

It was cold and wet at Bellahouston, but it takes much more to damper the spirits of these young triathletes. M3’s Zara Kidd got the silver medal in the Tristar 1 category, and there were great performances also from her sisters Isla and Juliette, as well as Christopher and Seb Mocci. Congratulations kids and we can’t wait to see you in action at the Monikie races!

Fleet Feet Knockburn Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon

Solstice Triathlon

The Solstice Triathlon is an off-road, open-water sprint distance triathlon held in the Pentland Hills. Michelle was pleased to report that “it was a great, chilled out event with goggles for a race goody, plus 1000 midgie bites! Lewis won the head to head battle but I won the 3rd female prize Would definitely recommend this race for something a bit different!”

Ironman France – Nice

John ‘Chief’ Wigham, took on the swim in the Mediterranean, bike through the alps, run along the Nice’s historic waterfront. John absolutely (but not literally) flew round the course for an excellent result – tremendous effort!

Ironman 70.3 Edinburgh

There was a strong contingent of M3ers flying the flag at the IM 70.3 Edinburgh race. There was an absolutely amazing super speedy performance from Robert Harrison, to grab 3rd place in his category and 29th overall! Miriam reported a challenging end to her race: “With only 2 miles left to run cramp struck in both legs I could hardly move forwards at all and adopted a straight leg shuffle”. However, she still managed to bag 3rd in her age group – fantastic result Miriam! Unbeknownst to all, this was to be the last Ironman 70.3 Edinburgh… here’s hoping it makes a comeback (or maybe they’d like to make the short move northwards to Dundee?)
